Rehearsals are now underway for our landmark 50th anniversary production of Romeo and Juliet, and we're excited to show you the first look inside the Rehearsal Room!

This bold new staging will see Shakespeare’s classic tale of rebellion burst onto the streets of the city in a gritty, immersive walkabout experience. Blending drama, live music and parkour, the production will transform Salisbury Playhouse and its surroundings into the heart of the Montague and Capulet conflict.

Bringing the story to life is a professional cast working alongside our community ensemble, with young performers at the centre of the action. Together, they are creating a dynamic, high-energy interpretation that explores whether young passion can break cycles of division and hate.

Audiences will be guided through the Playhouse building and its environs, stepping directly into a world where love risks everything and tensions run high.

As we celebrate 50 years of Salisbury Playhouse, Romeo and Juliet promises to be an unforgettable, city-wide theatrical event –and with rehearsals now in full swing, the countdown has truly begun.
