About
Devising & Dramaturgy Workshop: How to Make Sure Your Stories Pack a Punch
Tuesday 19 May, 6-7pm
FREE ONLINE WORKSHOP
When you are creating your own work it can feel very difficult to make sure everyone is holding the same show in their heads, and to make sure that scenes or the script are crafted powerfully enough to pack the punch you need. The beginning of the process is a really important time for this, and these skills are useful across all theatrical work or live experiences.
Director and Dramaturg Stephanie Kempson (Director of POLLY: THE HEARTBREAK OPERA, Assistant Director on Sally Cookson's JANE EYRE) shares the skills she uses to make sure a devised show builds on strong foundations and can be as stress-free and powerful as possible. Some of these will be dramaturgical tasks, some of these will be about the nature of collaboration and some of these will be about directing. You don't need to be a director, but you will be someone who leads or wants to lead on creative projects. You should also desire to tell powerful and moving stories that reflect the human condition.
