Wiltshire Creative Academy offers innovative industry-based qualifications delivered by Wiltshire Creative in partnership with Wiltshire College and University Centre. These courses are accredited by University of the Arts London:

UAL Award and Diploma in Performing and Production Arts (A-Level equivalent, full-time, 1 year)

UAL Award and Diploma and Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts (3 x A-Level equivalent, full-time, 2 years)

Students develop confidence and a range of core, transferrable creative skills. Supported by industry experts, you’ll gain a broad understanding of theatre arts. The course is taught across Salisbury Arts Centre, Salisbury Playhouse, and the Performing Arts Studio at the Wiltshire College Salisbury campus.

This is the only course of its type in Wiltshire, with access to and involvement with a working, producing theatre. You’ll get opportunities to see staged shows and spend time with creative professionals in research and development stages.

Choosing to follow either a Performing or Production Arts pathway, students collaborate on five practical projects per year, working as a theatre company. Your work will be presented in the Salberg Studio at Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre, and in the local community.

Former students have gone on to create, produce and perform nationally touring shows. They’ve also returned to Wiltshire Creative to assist the next generation as tutors and workshop assistants.

How do I apply?

Level 2 Performing and Production Arts

Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent; and a successful audition and interview.

Study and Assessment

There is a considerable amount of home study involved in the course. It should also be noted that the course can be physically demanding. There are also some evening requirements for students to attend theatre visits, rehearsals and performances which are an essential part of the course. There is also a requirement to produce researched written work and presentations regularly.

Additional costs and information

Resource Fee

You will need to pay a £25 non-refundable Resource Fee before coming to enrol at Wiltshire College. This can be done on the online shop Wiltshire College Online Shop. You will need to bring a copy of your receipt to enrolment as proof of purchase. If you cannot pay online, please bring cash or a cheque made payable to Wiltshire College and University Centre with you on enrolment day.

Stationery

All students are required to provide their own personal stationery to include pads, pens and pencils, poly pockets and folders ready for the start of term. Course lecturers will advise of any specific requirements at the start of term.

Equipment

All students are required to pay £125 on the Wiltshire College Online Shop. This will pay for: theatre and stage consumables and props and costumes for productions across the year.

We recommend that if your place is conditional in achieving exam results that you do not purchase items until your place is confirmed.

Books

Your course lecturer will advise of any textbooks that are recommended at the start of term. The college has a fully stocked Learning Resource Centre.

Trips

There are numerous theatre trips planned throughout the year along with visits from professional theatre companies and sometimes travel between campuses is required.

You will be advised by your course lecturer when these are available to purchase through the Wiltshire College Online Shop.
