About Shaping our Future

Be part of shaping the work - Visit, engage and share

Shaping our Future is a creative workshop for young people aged 13 – 25 exploring how art, architecture and design can actively shape the places we live and the cities we want to see next. What would you design? A youth hub, an indoor skatepark, a gaming centre, a climbing wall, or entirely new kinds of creative space that don’t yet exist but should.

Working alongside artists, architects and creative professionals, and supported and facilitated by See Space Differently CIC with partners including the Royal Institute of British Architects, Scrace Architects and wider collaborators, participants are invited into a hands-on process of making, testing and developing ideas through model-making, spatial thinking, drawing and digital design.

Ideas are explored collaboratively and developed into real proposals for how the city could evolve, opening up dialogue between young people, practitioners and decision-makers. The workshop creates space for imagination, experimentation and genuine civic voice.

Participants will then present and share their work as part of a wider conversation about shaping place, culture and community. We invite young people not just to imagine change, but to help define it.

Shaping our Future is born out of Shape & Shift, a new participatory sculpture by artist and architect Tim Scrace, which launched at Salisbury Guildhall on Saturday 2nd May, inviting the community to shape both the work and the culture around it.
