Join the Conversation: Help to create more opportunities to learn, socialise and be creative at Salisbury Arts Centre!

Wiltshire Creative is inviting local people and creatives to help shape the future of Salisbury Arts Centre as a vibrant hub for community creativity. This autumn, we’re launching a conversation about how our programme of classes, groups, and courses can grow to reflect the needs and passions of our city.

A Home for Creativity and Community

Salisbury Arts Centre is already buzzing with activity—from the Wiltshire Creative Academy (our partnership with Wiltshire College), to Dance 60, youth band and jam nights, and rehearsal space for emerging musicians and theatre-makers. Our stage hosts everything from music and comedy to theatre, and we’re proud to welcome community events, from proms and memorials to our own 50th birthday celebration this year.

But we want to do even more. We believe every space in the arts centre should be alive with opportunities for local people to learn new skills, connect, and create—whether that’s art, theatre, music, or something entirely new.

Spaces for Everyone

Beyond our main performance space, the centre was designed for hands-on creativity. Upstairs, you’ll find a studio for rehearsals and performances, a media room, and an art room—ready and waiting for new ideas and activities.

Get Involved: Open Meetings This Autumn

We’re kicking off a new, collaborative approach and want to hear from you! Whether you’re a creative with skills to share, a neighbour, a past participant, a potential volunteer, or simply curious about what the Arts Centre could become, your voice matters.

Upcoming Open Meetings:

  • For Creatives:
    • 27 Oct, 5–7pm (Salisbury Arts Centre)
    • 6 Nov, 2–4pm (Salisbury Arts Centre & Online)
  • For Individuals & Community Representatives:
    • 14 Nov, 11am–1pm (Salisbury Arts Centre)
    • 16 Oct, 5–7pm (Salisbury Arts Centre)

If you would like to attend a meeting, please email takepart@wiltshirecreative.co.uk the subject line “SAC + date of the meeting you wish to attend”. We’re especially keen to hear from groups supporting people with SEND or those who haven’t used the Arts Centre before.

Looking Ahead

Wiltshire Creative’s new Take Part Director, Sarah Gregson, says:
“I can’t wait to have these conversations. People across Salisbury have such warmth for the Arts Centre, often because of the great experiences they’ve had here. We want to capture local people’s ideas and connect them with the skills of local makers, creatives, and teachers. We can’t do everything for everyone, but we know we can do more by working together.”

Wiltshire Creative is planning to offer a pilot season of new participatory activities from April to July 2026—and this is just the beginning.

Share your ideas. Join the conversation. Help us make Salisbury Arts Centre a place where everyone can take part.
