Wiltshire Creative supported Wiltshire Council’s FUEL (Food, Unity, Energy, Laughter) programme over the summer holidays, providing eligible school-aged children with free access to enriching activities and nutritious food to tackle the growing issue of holiday hunger.
Each day started and finished with fun drama games, with creative exploration in between.
In the first week, primary-aged children enjoyed making environmental-themed art with Wiltshire Scrapstore. Inspired by "The Wild Robot” story, they had a go at painting, drawing, mask-making and sculpture, crafting from recycled materials which would otherwise have ended up in landfill.
Secondary-aged children discovered textile art and design with a costume workshop in our Wardrobe department, with Costume Maker and our former Head of Wardrobe Teri Buxton. As well as creative embroidery activities, some participants even sewed their own shorts to take home and wear.
We saw some fantastic creations emerge over the two weeks of the programme and hope all the young people enjoyed their week of activities at Salisbury Playhouse.
