About Play On!

What does it take for a woman to make it in a man's world?

Presented by Talawa, the UK's leading Black theatre company, this contemporary retelling of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night is set in the jazz scene of New York's Cotton Club.

Meet Vy, a talented songwriter aiming to make it big in the 1940's Harlem scene. She quickly learns that women will never be taken seriously in a man's world but is determined to prove them wrong - who will come out on top?

Be swept up in a syncopated symphony of melodies, mistaken identities and romance in this musical spectacular that will have your hands clapping along to the timeless soundtrack.

Conceived by Sheldon Epps and Book by Cheryl L.West. Presented by Talawa's Black Joy season. Produced by Talawa Theatre Company and the Belgrade Theatre and Co-produced with Wiltshire Creative, Birmingham Hippodrome, Brisol Old Vic, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse and Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.
