Fridays 10.30am-11.15am, 29 April – 15 July at Salisbury Arts Centre 

Ideal for early years; ages 2-5. 

Join us at Salisbury Arts Centre every Friday for a fun workshop exploring different art forms each week, including dance, music and art. These sessions are designed for under 5s and their grown ups to enjoy together!

Please read the information on each weekly session below to decide which activities are most suited to your interests and age bracket.

Some sessions are free, whilst others cost £5 child/£3 adult. Booking is essential for all sessions. 


Stay & Play with Kindred Nurseries

6th May, 1st July 

Salisbury Arts Centre Café, FREE. 

Stay & Play with Kindred Nurseries is a chance for preschool aged children and their adults to stay and play at Salisbury Arts Centre café, with activities provided by Kindred Nurseries. This is a free session, which usually takes place on the first Friday of the month. 


SAYM Start The Music!: 

13th May, 10th June, 8th July 

White Room Studio, £5 child / £3 adult. 

SAYM Start the Music! is a series of music sessions that is specifically designed to provide a fun and interactive introduction to music-making. Children learn musical skills and concepts such as pitch, pulse and rhythm through enjoyable activities including singing, games, movement and playing percussion instruments. Start the Music! is led by Jane Parsons and Salisbury Area Young Musicians and usually takes place on the second Friday of each month. Please note, these particular sessions are aimed at ‘rising 4s’ (children of pre-school age in the academic year prior to starting school). 



20th May, 17th June, 15th July 

Salisbury Arts Centre Café, FREE. 

smARTies is a self-directed arts and crafts session for 2-5 year olds and their grown ups. Children can develop their creativity by exploring different art forms and materials. SmARTies is a free activity in the café at Salisbury Arts Centre. This session usually takes place on the third Friday of the month. 


Story Time Movers: 

29th April, 27th May, 24th June 

White Room Studio, £5 child / £3 adult. 

Story Time Movers is an early years dance session for ages 2-5, encouraging physical and cognitive development through creative movement. Inspired by familiar story books, the sessions will allow children to explore their own imagination. These sessions are led by Hatti Dawson and usually take place on the first Friday of the month. 

Hatti is the Principal of Panthera Dance Company, located in Churchfields Salisbury, specialising in Street Dance, Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre dance and more! Hatti is an award-winning International Dance Artist with extensive experience of performance, choreography and teaching. Hatti recently won Wiltshire Life Awards Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2020, for her outstanding contribution to the business community.

Friday Under 5s – What To Expect 

Where sessions will take place?  

Start the Music and Story Time Movers: 
Sessions will take place in the White Room Studio at Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street, Salisbury, SP1 3UT. The White Room is on the first floor – there is a lift if you need it. 

SmARTies and Stay & Play with Kindred Nursaries: 
Sessions will take place in the Main Space and cafe at Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street, Salisbury, SP1 3UT. 

Please present your ticket at the door, and you will be directed to the correct room. 

Group Size  

We have limited the capacity of each session in the White Room Studio to a total of 20 parents and children (excluding babies and your group leader) to allow for social distancing. 

Sessions in the main space have a higher capacity, appropriate to the size of the space. 

Prams & Buggies  

You can leave your buggy safely downstairs by the bar. 

Hand Sanitiser / Temperature checking 

As you enter and exit the building you will be asked to sanitise your hands and use our contactless temperature checker. 

Face Coverings 

We request that adults, and those aged 11+ (unless exempt) wear a face covering during sessions and when moving around our building and in communal spaces. Leaders of the session will be wearing a face shield at all times. If you have a sunflower lanyard (exemption from face covering due to a hidden disability) please wear it  

Social Distancing 

Please observe social distancing both inside and outside the building. Each family group/bubble should maintain a social distance from other groups wherever possible. 


Where craft materials or equipment is required, each family bubble will be provided with their own materials, so there will be no need to share. All equipment will be sanitised before use. 


Nappy changing facilities are available. We have a limited number of toilets available due to social distancing. We request that the toilets are used by only one family at a time. 


The café will be open from 10am for take away, before and after your session. Hot drinks are prohibited in the White Room Studio.  


If you have any of the following symptoms – high temperature, cough or a loss or change in your sense of smell or taste please do not arrive at the session and follow the NHS guidelines or call 111 on what to do next. 

Please notify Wiltshire Creative if you or one of your group develop symptoms or tests positive for covid-19 within 2 days of the session.  

Car Parking

Please do not park in the carpark adjacent to the building unless you need to us the accessible bays. Instead please use either Salt Lane car park or College Street car park.
