Friday Under 5s 

Ideal for early years; ages 2-5. 

Join us at Salisbury Arts Centre every Friday for a fun workshop exploring a different art form each week, including dance, music, drama and art. These sessions are designed for under 5s and their grown ups to enjoy together! Please read the information on each weekly session below, to decide which activities are most suited to your interests and age bracket. 


Story Time Movers:  5 November, 3 December 

Story Time Movers is an early years dance session for ages 2-5, encouraging physical and cognitive development through creative movement. Inspired by familiar story books, the sessions will allow children to explore their own imagination. Story Time Movers is led by Hatti Dawson and usually takes place on the first Friday of the month.


Hatti is the Principal of Panthera Dance Company, located in Churchfields Salisbury, specialising in Street Dance, Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre dance and more! Hatti is an award-winning International Dance Artist with extensive experience of performance, choreography and teaching. Hatti recently won Wiltshire Life Awards Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2020, for her outstanding contribution to the business community. She looks forward to teaching Story Time Movers.


SAYM Start The Music!:  12 November, 10 December 

SAYM Start the Music! is a series of music sessions that is specifically designed to provide a fun and interactive introduction to music-making. Children learn musical skills and concepts such as pitch, pulse and rhythm through enjoyable activities including singing, games, movement and playing percussion instruments. Start the Music! is led by Jane Parsons and Salisbury Area Young Musicians and usually takes place on the second Friday of each month. Please note, these particular sessions are aimed at ‘rising 4s’ (children of pre-school age in the academic year prior to starting school). 


Stay & Play:  15 October, 19 November

Stay & Play is an under 5s activity aimed at ages 2-5, that explores storytelling through performing arts. Unlock and stretch the imagination through fun drama games, movement and role play. Stay & Play usually takes place on the third Friday of each month. 


SmARTies: 26 November, 17 December (Free, based in our cafe, no need to book) 

smARTies is a self-directed arts and crafts session for 2-5 year olds and their grown ups. Children can develop their creativity by exploring different art forms and materials. SmARTies is a free activity in the café at Salisbury Arts Centre. No need to book. 
Note: Our smARTies session on 17 December will be a Christmas Party, delivered in collaboration with Mind The Gap, our creative arts group for older people!

Friday Under 5s – What To Expect 

Where sessions will take place?  

Sessions will take place in the White Room Studio at Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street, Salisbury, SP1 3UT. 

Please present your ticket at the door, and you will be directed to the White Room Studio, which is on the first floor – there is a lift if you need it. 

Group Size  

We have limited the capacity of each session to a total of 15 parents and children (excluding babies and your group leader) to allow for social distancing. 

Prams & Buggies  

You can leave your buggy safely downstairs by the bar. 

Hand Sanitiser / Temperature checking 

As you enter and exit the building you will be asked to sanitise your hands and use our contactless temperature checker. 

Face Coverings 

Face coverings are compulsory for all adults, and those aged 11+, unless exempt. Leaders of the session will be wearing a face shield at all times. If you have a sunflower lanyard (exemption from face covering due to a hidden disability) please wear it  

Social Distancing 

Please observe social distancing both inside and outside the building. The White Room Studio will have clearly marked areas for each family group/bubble.  


Where craft materials or equipment is required, each family bubble will be provided with their own pack, so there will be no need to share. All equipment will be sanitised before use. 


Nappy changing facilities are available. We have a limited number of toilets available due to social distancing. We request that the toilets are used by only one family at a time. 


The café will be open from 10am for take away, before and after your session. Hot drinks are prohibited in the White Room Studio.  


If you have any of the following symptoms – high temperature, cough or a loss or change in your sense of smell or taste please do not arrive at the session and follow the NHS guidelines or call 111 on what to do next. 

Please notify Wiltshire Creative if you or one of your group develop symptoms within 10 days of the session.  

Car Parking  

Please do not park in the carpark adjacent to the building unless you need to us the accessible bays. Instead please use either Salt Lane car park or College Street car park.
