YOU’RE NOT AS FUNNY AS YOUR FATHER

Written and performed by Andrew Secombe

Harry Secombe was one of the country’s best loved stars. From the anarchic Goon Show to appearances on the Sunday ‘God slot’ television programmes. He was also a regular at the London Palladium, starred in Pickwickon Broadway and played Mr Bumble in the film of Oliver!.

In this show, Harry’s son, Andy – himself an actor who recently appeared at Salisbury Playhouse in Handbagged– explores the nature of inherited celebrity and gives an insight into being the son of a man who counted Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Tommy Cooper, Beryl Reid, Bruce Forsyth and Prince Charles as close friends. This is a warm and affectionate look at life with one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers from the fringes of the spotlight.
