About

Friday Nights at the Arts Centre

Our very popular Friday Nights at Salisbury Arts Centre are returning this June and July, but this time in association with SHIFT.

Enjoy a drink in our beautiful building, 7pm to 11pm with live entertainment from 7.30pm.  Our Friday nights will give you a taste of some local talent with music performances and also an open mic night.  We will also have our very popular quiz night return at the end of the month.  The perfect opportunity to meet up with those friends you haven’t been able to see for a while! Our kitchen will be open and serving freshly prepared homemade meals.

Some of these Friday night events will be hosted in association with the SHIFT programme. SHIFT is a new programme created by Wiltshire Creative which is amplifying young voices through the arts. Led by two Associate Artists and our Young Ambassadors, we aim to programme a series of pan-arts events and work to showcase young voices in the community.  This means that for a few of the Friday nights in June there will be ‘opening acts’ who are young and up and coming local artists.  Giving them an opportunity to perform on a professional stage with support from local established professional artists.

Friday 18 June - Antoine & Owena (SHIFT OPENING ACT: Signature Vision)

In association with SHIFT.

Inspired by traditional and contemporary folk music, Antoine & Owena create their own original blend of folk music that provides a feast for the ears, the heart and the feet. Together they combine the interpretive folk violin styles of Owena Archer, with the folk-rock guitar and bouzouki rhythms of Antoine Architeuthis to create an eclectic mix of original and traditional material inspired by history, tragedy, love and hope. Their original songs focus on story-telling and have been described as “well-constructed and convincingly told” by Living Tradition, and simply “Brilliant” by Folking.com, whilst their own take on traditional folk songs are stylishly sympathetic to the originals but given new tunes with a contemporary twist.
