About

Salisbury 2020 Creative Learning

We have THREE exciting opportunities for young people to respond to Salisbury 2020 through our creative learning programme, these can be done at home or through Schools and other settings.

Salisbury 2020 STEAM challenge

Science, Technology, Engineering Art and Maths

This years brief for our STEAM challenge responds to the octo-centenary of the founding of Salisbury.

800 years ago Salisbury Cathedral and its community moved from Old Sarum, a feat that required the greatest physical, technological and intellectual skills. Draw inspiration from this extraordinary moment in our history and discover what you can move.

This is an opportunity to work across different media and create new work for submission to an exhibition of young people’s work.  This project is intended to be fun and inventive, support learning and promote creative thinking and problem solving skills.

Submissions will be displayed on our website and social media pages and selected pieces will be exhibited across the city later in the year.

KEY STAGE 3

ORIGINAL DRAMA COMPETITION 2020

Our popular KS3 Original Writing Competition is a unique opportunity to engage KS3 students in writing and give them the chance to see their writing performed as a rehearsed reading.

This opportunity can be set as curriculum activity to be delivered in School, as an extra-curricular challenge or as a home learning exercise.

The theme this year responds to the octo-centenary of the founding of Salisbury. 800 years ago Salisbury Cathedral and its community moved from Old Sarum, a feat that required the greatest physical, technological and intellectual skills.

Schools will be asked to select a maximum of 5 entries per class, individual learners can submit 1 entry, scripts will need to be submitted by Wednesday 22nd July 2020. Once the shortlist has been made and comments given to the young writers, there will be a chance for edits to be made. The shortlist will be chosen by professional writers, actors and directors at Wiltshire Creative and will be performed as rehearsed readings in the Autumn.
