About

A performance of the opera by Howard Moody
Performed by Salisbury Festival Chorus and La Folia Orchestra

An opera by Howard Moody telling the story of Simon Gronowski, whose mother pushed him off a train bound for Auschwitz in 1943 in order to save his life. Composer Howard Moody met Simon in Brussels and on hearing his extraordinary story, promised that it would be the subject of his next opera. Originally commissioned by Battle Festival in 2016, it has two performances in Salisbury’s St Thomas’s Church as part of Wiltshire Creative’s Lift Off! weekend.

‘This opera should be compulsory viewing by all adults and children, to ensure that such events must never again be allowed to happen’ (review of premiere 2016)

'Taking part in the PUSH Chorus is exhilarating, exhausting, exciting, challenging and FUN!' (Salisbury Festival Chorus member)
