This August Bank Holiday (24 – 27 August), performance, spectacle and interactive fun will fill Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse and spill out into the streets and open spaces of Salisbury as Lift Off!, marking the launch of Wiltshire Creative.
The weekend will feature a Visual Arts Quest and, along with most of the activity taking place, it will be based on fairy tales, stories and storytelling.
We are looking for artists who create narrative art or work with stories to exhibit their work as part of an Arts Quest during the Lift Off! Weekend. Selected art works will be displayed in the windows of shops, businesses and private houses, on one of the quest routes between Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse. Entries can include photography, illustration, painting, sculpture, small installation, abstract art and so on.
Please email your entry to email@example.com together with the art work title, insurance value, your name, website and a short description of your practice. The deadline for entries is July 10.
Please submit no more than two pieces.
Artists will be notified by email about receipt of their submission but if you haven’t heard from us by July 16 please assume that your work hasn’t been selected. We are looking for up to 20 art works.
Selected artists will be required to deliver and collect their work to and from the designated place on the Quest’s route.
This is not a selling opportunity but we will display the artist’s name, website and contact details.
We are also seeking local craft groups and individual makers who work with yarn and textiles to contribute to our yarn strand of the Arts Quest.
We will identify 20 sites along one of the routes between Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse which can be adorned by yarn or textile based artwork.
We seek to engage several local groups who knit, crochet, embroider, weave, and craft with string, yarn or upcycled materials to create artworks which will be displayed in the windows of shops, businesses and private houses, as well as wrapping around railings, lampposts and bollards in the city centre. We are working together with the City Council and all the sites will have permission for this display.
Please email your questions or your expressions of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org together with your name or the name of your group and a brief description of what you would be able to make.
