Richard Harvey

Richard has extensive experience in the Arts as an academic, educationalist and practitioner. In his work with the International Baccalaureate he has served as Vice Chair of the examining board and senior examiner with the responsibility for the development of the arts curricula, including visual arts, dance, music, theatre and film. He has undertaken training for teachers in film and theatre in the UK and worldwide. Whilst a teacher of many years standing in Devon, he established a strong tradition of musical theatre, enabling young people aged 11 to 18 to participate and expand their skills in all aspects of production. Richard is Vice Chair of the board of governors of a local 11-18 secondary school. As well as significant work with young people, he developed an “Age and Reminiscence” programme with the British Film Institute, giving access to film viewing and discussion groups for people with dementia. Richard is Chair and founder member of Dorset Equity and in recent years has returned to performing on television and in film including roles in Doc Martin, Casualty and the films Alice in Wonderland and Lawrence After Arabia. Richard lives in Marnhull, just over the border in Dorset, with his wife Sheila [Healy] who shares his passion for the arts. They enjoy travelling, visiting family and friends in Dublin, Devon, Hertfordshire and Singapore, walking and gardening.
