TAKEOVER FESTIVAL 2020
BRIGHTEN YOUR EASTER WITH THE TAKEOVER FESTIVAL FROM WILTSHIRE CREATIVE!
A group of Young Ambassadors aged 14 to 21 at Wiltshire Creative have been working with staff to plan the first ever Takeover Festival – an exciting mix of performances and events over the Easter holidays. Unfortunately, the current situation means that they can’t present the programme as planned at Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse. However, that hasn’t stopped them! A selection of events for young people and families, some reimagined from the original programme, is available online over the next few weeks, all available to enjoy from the comfort of your home for free.
Events include a Takeover Gallery, where young artists are invited to submit original artwork for display, the Wiltshire Creative Playlist, where local musicians and bands can share live recordings of their performances, a Quiz and street dance challenges from Panthera Dance Company.
There are also opportunities for young people to submit and share reviews of their favourite TV shows, films or books, while Minecraft fans can try their hand at coding.
The full programme of Takeover Festival events can be found at www.wiltshirecreative.co.uk with new activities added each day, or by following Wiltshire Creative on social media.
The Takeover Festival has been kindly supported by Mr Jack Stone, a Salisbury Area Board Youth Grant and the Walter Guinness Charitable Trust.
Louise Dancy, Wiltshire Creative’s Take Part Director, said: “The Young Ambassadors have been working on their Takeover Festival for months and nothing was going to stop them sharing their ideas. When the venues closed, the priority was to adapt the programme to entertain and engage families at home. They can’t wait for everyone to get involved”
