Wiltshire Creative today announce their extensive community workshops programme for Autumn/Winter, including the recommencement of Stage 65 for young people aged 21 and under. Stage 65, Wiltshire Creative’s Youth Theatre, offers a space for young people throughout the district to harness their creativity, imagination and expression, whilst building concurrent networks of young creatives through active sessions and collaborative work. With six groups catering from academic Years 1 through to Year 12+, Stage 65 will offer ample opportunities for arts engagement throughout the Autumn term, including script reading sessions, audition workshops, music making sessions and pottery. 

Also on offer at Wiltshire Creative for the Autumn season will be workshops to suit a wider range of ages, including fortnightly Mind the Gap sessions for older people to meet over coffee; Creative Collective sessions for over 21 offering informal spaces to discuss their creative endeavours; and Stand-Up Comedy Sessions for over 18s. In conjunction with Autumn exhibitions at Salisbury Arts Centre, Makers Tale and Linescapes, there will also be arts and crafts craft workshops with exhibition artists Alex Hoare and Hermione Thomson using a variety of mediums such as eco-resin and kiln formed glass.

Wiltshire Creative Stage 65 Youth Theatre

Stage 65 weekly workshops are open to any young person; no experience needed. Young people explore storytelling through drama techniques, games, exercises, and fun, introducing them to performance and the world of theatre.

These inclusive workshops are a fantastic opportunity to learn and discover in a professional arts environment, build an interest, and meet new friends.

Stage 65 Workshop groups are as follows:

  • S65 ONE (Ages 5- 8) from 25 September 
  • S65 TWO (Age 8-10) from 22 September 
  • S65 THREE (Age 10-12) from 21 September
  • S65 FOUR (Age 12-14) from 21 September
  • S65 FIVE (Age 14-16) from 22 September 
  • S65 Young Company (Age 16-21) from September 25

These sessions are designed for under 5s and parents to enjoy together, and sessions will include Story Time Movers, SAYM Start The Music!, Stay & Play, and SmARTies.

Mind The Gap

Mind The Gap is an opportunity for older people to meet and explore the creative arts in the safe surroundings of Salisbury Playhouse. The group will meet fortnightly in the foyer for coffee, conversation and creativity.

Youth Arts Online: Play Reading is an introduction to the world of theatre for young people aged 14 and above through looking at a diverse range of playwrights, themes and influences.



Creative Collective

A new, informal collective of people aged 21+ who meet regularly to explore the creative arts and collaborate with practitioners across a variety of artforms. 


Adults Pottery with Mirka Golden-Hann
21 September – 30 November, 6:30-9:30pm
23 September – 2 December, 9:30am-12:30pm and 7pm-9pm
Salisbury Arts Centre 

Salisbury Arts Pottery is a fully equipped pottery studio with a legacy dating back to the founding of Salisbury Arts Centre. In regular mixed ability classes, everyone learns at their own pace and is encouraged to pursue their particular interests within the subject of ceramic and clay work.


Children’s Pottery with Lynne Heaton 
23 September – 2 December, 4pm-6pm
25 September – 4 December, 11:15am-1pm

Creativity is nurtured through encouragement and joyful exploration of the possibilities and the limits of the material in Children’s Pottery workshops with Lynne Heaton. Children and young people can learn various hand-building and clay modelling techniques as well as how to throw pots on the potter’s wheel.  In a fun and enjoyable way, ceramic science is introduced to young pottery students through trying out various decorating and glazing techniques.


Drama School Audition Workshops: Introduction Session 
30 September – 25 November 2021
Introduction Session: 27 September 2021, 5 - 7pm 
Community Room, Salisbury Playhouse 

An informative session for young people considering applying for drama school with opportunities to learn speeches, get feedback, and hone their audition skills. This session will be led by Bristol Old Vic graduate Tom Sherman.


Mixed Media Eco Resin Workshop: Meaning, Materials & Making with Hermione Thomson
Saturday 16 October at 9.30am - 4.30pm

In this workshop you can come to explore and work with an eco-resin, a medium which is traditionally used in architecture and is relatively new on the contemporary art and craft scene. 

This workshop is in conjunction with Salisbury Arts’ Centre’s Maker’s Tale:


Get Creative – Make Music!  
Thursday 21 October 2021, 9.30am & 1.30pm

Stand-Up Comedy for Beginners

Introduction to Kiln Formed Glass with Alex Hoare
Saturday 20 November at 10am - 4.30pm

A full-day workshop in which you will have the opportunity to learn about fused or kiln formed glass with Linescapes exhibition artist Alex Hoare.
